I am setting up a subscription service and i want to know, is it (A) easier to create a mailing list to send the info? or (B) easier to set up a site with a private members area?

If it is a mailing list it the ones I get emailed are mostly PDF unless they require my actions and those private members websites.
From amy own experience I had to use an access database with some pearl or CGI script to meke the acccess side work. which was great after the hassle of getting it to work.
