One way to calm the nerves is to prepare a list of the most commonly asked interview questions. For each question, have a response in mind. Practice your responses several times before the interview, even if you have to say them out loud or in front of a friend. If you get nervous during the interview, pause for a second to collect your thoughts. When appropriate, ask your interviewer questions about the position/company -- this indicates interest and that you've done your research. It also takes the spotlight off you for a moment. =)
As far as the dress code, wear a tailored suit or attire that is a step up from business casual (i.e., khakis). Oh! Wear comfortable shoes. I once wore fashionable pointy-toed (but interview appropriate) pumps to an interview. The interview ended with a tour of the company. I became more self conscious and nervous because I was trying to keep up with their pace, not twist my ankle or have a shoe pop off!
As always, smile and give a firm hand shake when you enter/exit the interview. Those are always key. Good luck!

The first thing is to look totally polished, without looking too dressed-up. I would wear your basic plain, solid-colored shirt, a pair of black (or kahki) pants, and a nice jacket (not a jean jacket). Basically, act like yourself, and be professional. Never, ever on an interview say "yeah" "yep" "uh huh" "nope" "nah" or anything like that. A simple "yes" or "no" always does the trick, and it also helps to demonstrate that you are definitive in your responses, which is something businesses adore! You didn't mention what kind of a desk job it was, so I am assuming you'll be dealing with customers. Always smile! Employers love friendly, pleasant-faced employees, because to the customer, the way an employee acts is a way to judge the business. Terms such as "sir" and "ma'am" are also a great way to score points on the interview, because they are viewed as terms of respect. I hope this helps, and good luck on Monday!

Believe it or not go with a hangover. I am not joking. I get very nervous when I go on interviews and I babble like an idiot. But when I am not feeling well I still get the adrenaline rush that keeps me alert without being too nervous. It works, I always get hired for jobs I want when I really feel to crappy to care that much. I got a job making $30 an hour when I did not really care, I aced the interview with 6 different people from engineers to financial people etc. Nerves will kill ya. I know it sounds crazy but it works. They want someone who is calm and self assured, not nervous. If you are feeling crappy, you will come across that way believe it or not.
Oh and a biggy, come prepared for info about the company. Do research and know what they are about, and who is who as much as possible.

Just remember. If you act weird, they proably look at you weird lol. Just stay cool and don't act nervous...act like its no sweat at all. The interview is proably only, like an hour or 30 min right? (if so...thats not to long). Smile at the right time but don't smile to much because they'll proalby see that ur acting fake lol. Try to focus on the person who's the interviewing person? (Who's doing the interview lol). Sorry for my bad english. Remember...act like it's no sweat! They can proaalby snese that ur nervous and u dont want that right?????! So jsut focus on what ur there to focus on lol.

Do NOT look around the room. Concentrate on the interviewer and answering their questions as quickly and clearly as you can.
It's about how you deliver your answers more so than your answers themselves.
Also, definitely ask at least two questions about the organization itself.
Interviewing skills take time. Don't expect to be perfect the first few times.

Dress like the person who does the job you are applying for...if its office work ...dress like and office worker...if it's healthcare dress like a healthcare worker...it makes the boss think of you already in that role. Also...be prepared to talk about your personal goals and interests. No boss wants to hire someone without personal goals and yes they probably will ask .
Last but maybe it should come first ..act like the boss is just another person that you are having a conversation with...he or she is actually just that and they want to see the real you.

Yeh, Be friendly and smile. Talk in a soothing voice so you can hypnotise them into liking you. Act like you already have a job and really don't need this job. But if it seems like they feel you are qualified don't be too proud to beg and get the job before you walk out the door... Um, it worked for me once... good luck.

Start out remembering: he wants to see you! That's big. Then, when you start feeling nervous, concentrate as hard as you can on the questions he's asking. And, for me, it always helps to tell myself I can get another job if this one doesn't work, so I don't get as nervous worrying about it. In other words, there are plenty of jobs for people with skills and/or experience. If you don't get this one, you'll get the next one, or the next. Keep your confidence up.

well, just remember to breathe and stay relaxed! be yourself, and of course you should smile! dress professionally and make sure to bring all your requirements with you, but despite all that, what will make him decide if he's going to hire you is your personality, so make sure that shines through! just try to keep your eye contact so you look engaged and interested in him and the job position, and always have a nice firm handshake, it shows that you are serious about the job and you are very confident! best of luck to you!

first and foremost, dress in the most businesslike attire you can muster, it'll make a world of difference to your confidence. then concentrate on the fact that they are seeing you at all, which means you can't be that bad for the job. when you're in there, don't concentrate on yourself but on them and their questions. look into their eyes, smile and be yourself. be polite but not sycophantic. if there's a choice of seating, take the chair over the sofa. if they offer you something to drink, accept a glass of water or juice. don't wear dangly jewellery cos it'll make you fiddle with it. remind yourself that you are more jobs out there if you don't get this one. good luck! :-)
