one day i was waiting a friend
with another friend
and both are very close and dear to me
while i was sitting with one of them
the other was crashed by a car
we ran to him and called for an ambulance
we went to hospital
and my friend got into the ER
each time we ask is everything ok
we never get answered
6 hours had passed and yet we dont know whether our friend is even alive or no
one nurse was passing i asked her is the guy in there ok
she looked like astonished and said
i am sorry but he died
my other friend was astonished and barely could feel a thing
she ran out of the hospital and slipped over her head
so she got back into the hospital
and got her turn in the ER
i stayed for another 2 hours
then she i was able to see her
we sat there for another 2 hours
to find a doctor
coming and saying that our friend is fine
and we can go to see him
we went to see him
but he wasnt awake
so i waited with him as my other friend
had to go home to rest
i guess i waited for another 9 hours so total is
about 19 or 20 hours
that day was a real mess
god hope no one would witness such a day

My daughter had a fever so and it was after hours so in we went to the ER. Now it was not just a simple fever mind you it was like 105 so I thought I better get her in. Well we were there from 6 p.m till 12 midnight. This was waiting room only. They finally called us to an actuall room, looked at her and said the dr. would be right in. well 45 mins later I walked out and said forget it I am leaving. I explained we still hadn't been seen by a doctor and my childs fever had broken. The dr. then said No don't go im comming she came and I told her how long we were there and that her fever broke. I said it would've been better for her to be at home in bed asleep than here wathching fear factor waiting to be seen she is starving and tired and this is ridiculs. They actually went and got her a sandwhich and some chips and juice and apologized. We got home at 2 am. To this day my daughter is tramatized by the word ER. Pretty much have to be missing a limb to be seen

I usually leave after 3 hours....but it was probably longer when I was 14 and had appendicitis and my parents made me wait. I avoid going to emergency but the 3 hours I was there last time was because my daughter and I had been in a car accident. I figured since she was fine (just a migraine which she gets anyway and the best thing for her was to get home to bed in the dark) and I must have been okay or they would have seen me sooner, that I might as well go home and call my own doctor for an appointment the next day.

That's the hospital for you. Once, they see that you're okay. And there are no signs of fetal distress, they keep you long for observation so they can bill your insurance a higher cost as it's ER. I have waited as much as 5 hrs. They do a triage system in the ER. They prioritize the level of care that's needed depending on the acuity. For example, a gunshot wd require imediate attention versus yours as it's life threatening. Your case would be at the bottom of the totem pole unless you're bleeding. or no detection of FHT(fetal heart tones) Life is a series of one long wait.

Our hospital has one of the busiest ERs in the province, I've been there for 4 hours easy :( Unless the emergency is life-threatening, the triage nurses have to assess you and let others go ahead of you if their condition is worse :(
