Start with a high-stacked blonde wig, that's where Dolly herself starts. She does pile the makeup on; she has a wide mouth and likes to use red lipstick. If you draw the lipstick slightly larger than your lips then you will make them look bigger. If you do it on the sides only then you can make your mouth look a little wider. She likes medium to long length fakes nails too, ideally painted red (because she favors that color, but she will paint her nails to correspond to her costume). She wears earrings most of the time so you will need those. You can find clip ons if your ears aren't pierced, but you will have to look pretty hard for them.

"She once said: "I'm not offended by all of the dumb-blonde jokes because I know I'm not dumb--and I'm also not blonde.'"

She is a popular image to portray among the gay community." [That could be one source of information, but I am not gay and don't know the community.]

"She has stated that if she were a man, she would be a drag queen. One of her more famous quotes: "It takes a lot of money to look this cheap'". [So when you shop for dresses keep this in mind. It also means you can probably get away with costume jewelry.]

"She likes to poke fun at herself for large breasts.
Her measurements are: 40-20-36; so I suggest a girdle and a stuffed size D bra. Since she has implants your phony breast should be hemispherical, like the skin had to be stretched over them.

"Throughout her career, Parton has been world renowned for her large breasts. She has often poked fun at herself with quips such as "I would have burned my bra in the 60s, but it would have taken the fire department three days to put it out," or "The reason I have a small waist and small feet is that nothing grows well in the shade." In 1989 when she guest-hosted Saturday Night Live, she participated in a self-deprecating sketch that parodied Sci-Fi exploitation films: an alien race of excessively large-breasted women teased her about the fact that her breasts were comparatively small, "merely the size of melons." In 1994, she told Vogue magazine that her measurements were 40-20-36. [3] More recently, as a guest on The O'Reilly Factor she told Bill O'Reilly, "I don't know if they [my breasts] are supporting me or I'm supporting them." Dolly the sheep was named for Parton because it was cloned from mammary tissue.

She has reportedly turned down several offers to pose for Playboy magazine and similar publications; however, she jokes that she told Playboy she would pose naked on her 100th birthday. Russ Meyer wanted to make movies about her breasts. She admitted to having breast implants in 2002. She says she didn't get them until she lost a great deal of weight in the mid-1980s, because as a result of the weight loss she had lost a great deal of her famous bust. [4]"

According to: http://www.dollymania.net/faq.html#016
"She has freely admitted to a great deal of plastic surgery, including having anything sucked, tucked or lifted when it starts to sag. She has said she had her breasts "lifted," has had work done on her face, neck and rear end, regularly endures chemical facial peels and takes collagen injections to hide wrinkles. She has said that she is not ashamed of having plastic surgery because she wants to look her best for her fans and believes anyone who wants to have it done, has the money to pay for it, thinks it will improve their self-esteem and visits a licensed and qualified doctor for the procedure should go ahead and do it."

So you want to get a chemical peel before dressing up and use a wrinkle removing cream that will tighten your face. She will not have any blemishes or facial imperfections, which again means a lot of female war paint.

The article continues:
"One, because she likes it -- it's kind of a play time for her to wear lots of make-up and flashy clothes, but she came about her look from a sincere place. In a 1992 interview for a VH1 special, she explained: "There was a woman in our hometown, and everybody said that she was the trash, you know, the town tramp. But I thought she was beautiful 'cause she had this yellow hair, and she had bright red lipstick, and she wore make up and tight clothes and bright colors and red fingernails and high heel shoes. And I thought, 'That's how I want to look!' I thought she was beautiful. Nothing was ever bright enough for me, I mean I love loud colors. So my look came from a very serious place. It was a country girl's idea of what glamour really was. The more people tried to get me to change my look, the more I realized people were looking at me. And I thought that if I can hold their attention long enough for them to see that I am a talented person and that I am sincere about my work and that there is a brain underneath all of this hair and there is a heart underneath these boobs, you know, and if people can really see beyond that, then I can get past that. So overcoming my own image has been a challenge to myself.'"

Dolly looks like a tramp, and she knows it, and that is part of her image, an image she is comfortable with and willing to poke fun at. So I am sure she would be flattered by your choice in copying her look.

"Flat-footed and flat-haired, she stands just five feet tall. She often jokes that when she puts on her big wigs and five-inch high-heeled shoes, she's 6-foot-5 (although it would be more like 5-foot-7 or so)."

"I'd guess she's maybe 100-115 pounds."

"Does Dolly have any tattoos?
Yes, she has a small angel on her left upper arm and a butterfly on her chest. She doesn't often wear clothes, which allow the tattoos to be seen, which is perhaps why she usually wears long or half-sleeves instead of very short sleeved or sleeveless tops. (On Jay Leno in April 1996 when she was promoting the opening of Dollywood, he noticed the angel tattoo and asked her about it. She called it her "guardian angel" and also mentioned that she has a butterfly tattoo as well. The butterfly could be seen, although she didn't talk about it, on a late 1999 appearance on Jay Leno when she was promoting The Grass Is Blue.) Also, when she appeared on Conan O'Brien's show in early 2001, at one point her shirt lifted up a little to expose her navel, and it appeared to be pierced."

Adjust your high heels to get close; you may need to wear flats. You don't have to try and fake the tattoos, unless you plan on showing them. But, then only a true Dolly Parton fan would notice them. However, if you have any other tattoos then you should cover them up. You will also want to wear tight fitting dresses with long sleeves, and not expose your belly.

“How may I contact Dolly? Can I get an autographed photo of her?
As with any celebrity, Dolly receives tons of fan mail daily, so she certainly cannot respond to all of it, but it never hurts to try :) Fan mail may be sent to her either her Nashville office at P.O. Box 150307, Nashville, TN 37215-0307, or her home at 9510 Crockett Road, Brentwood, TN 37027-8403.”

You could try to ask for a picture, but it may take a while. Other wise I would go to the Wikipedia web site and others to get pictures of her. That will give you an idea on her tastes and how her face is shaped. Check out some of her recent album covers as well.

You will need to do something about your Adam’s Apple on you neck so a high collared dress might be in order. I haven’t seen her wearing any scarves. Don’t forget the mole on the right side of her face below her mouth. Her facial structure has high cheekbones so use your rouge to duplicate that look. You will want to trim your eyebrows and you may want to wear false eyelashes. Don’t forget the subtle touch like feminine perfume. She would probably wear it pretty thick and select an inexpensive one with a strong scent (she would wear and expensive perfume, but you can probably get a cheap knock off). You could even attach an MP3 player, with some of her music, inside your bra. Then you can walk around with her music playing. You will need to find some small speakers and wire them up to the jack on the MP3 player. You can do find the proper size jack and some speakers for less than $50.00 at radio shack. Connect one wire from each speaker to the ground and then connect one wire from one speaker to the right channel, and the other to the left channel (the ground is usually the outer most conductor.) Make sure you can reach the on-off switch easily. You could do the same thing with a small tape player, but it will be heavier. You could also use an audio note taker. Record a bit of music on it and then play it back. The volume should be small and you won’t need extra speakers.

I suggest that you dress up in your costume a several hours before you plan on wearing your costume and visit a store that sells makeup, and bring the best picture of Dolly that you have. Then let the counter woman select the makeup you need. She can even apply some of it. If you buy the makeup then she has done her job so she shouldn’t mind helping you. If that isn’t good enough then slip her $20.00, which is probably more than see would make in commission during her time spent with you.

Don’t forget that southern twang of hers. I recommend going to the local Block Buster and see if you can find a recent documentary, or a video of her and listen to that. To get any more detailed you would have to have some advanced theater skills.

One fluffy blonde wig.
Use duct tape to hold two large cantaloups to your chest.
Wear a bit too much blush with a finishing touch of foundation.
Complete the look with ruby red lipstick, really white teeth and a cute giggle.

For sandwich-lovers, use spinach or swiss chard leaves instead of a wrap, skip the piece of cheese, and load high on the veggies.

if you have blonde hair that will naturally get bleached by the particular sun in the summer. There had been this guy in my class who also had golden blonde hair that was a medium brown near the bottom part. When he came back to university after summer vacation, it was almost platinum blonde!
