When people ask questions or make statements what is the big deal if they can't spell or word things right as long as we understand what they are trying to say? It's all in fun and a chance to share views even if we don't agree.

I agree with you. If you understand what a person is saying, its the question, not the spellling that should be considered. We live in a world where people just want to complain about anything, they enjoy being nasty. Usually, its because they dont have much else in their life so they take every opportunity to pick to pieces whatever they can. Its boredom and ignorance....dont worry about them, if it wasnt the spellling, it would be something else they would find to complain about.

This is not an English class, probably the spell checker is used by people who are more interested in how they appear than in getting a problem solved. That is probably how they live their life as well.....more interested in appearances than in what they are feeling.

I am a naturally good spelller, but I wont waste time with apostrophies (not too sure it thats how its spelled...lol). I just want to get a message across...and I am sure there will be plenty of people who would pick my spelling apart too....I couldnt care less, they are the ones with the problem, not me.

If a question is sincere as yours is, the person answering it should not be rude, but when some of the questions are nasty or disgusting, rudeness is deserved.
As far as spelling is concerned, knowing how to spell something correctly is very important in our world. I've been lucky. I'm a good speller, however, I'm awful at math and it's important to be good at math. Some people are just not good spellers. Spellcheck will help.
Being able to word something correctly is sometimes hard to do. I know what I want to say at times, but don't always know how to say it.
I like this site and sharing views and helping people out with questions is fun.
I think though that some people are insensitive in their answers.

People's egos show up all over Yahoo Answers, don't they?? I'll have to admit that I had an attitude about spelling, too, at one time. Then when I had two kids, my son an academic genius, but my daughter had learning disabilities that showed up in spelling & reading, I learned to be a lot more open minded!! And believe me, poor spelling has nothing to do with intelligence, either!

Look, this venue has "SPELL CHECKING" ! Use it. Don't try to tell me that many people have different screens and don't have that ability. Alot of what you see in this venue that is misspelled, is due to the fact that some think using text messaging abbreviations are ok, they aren't! I don't' know all those abbreviations. If you want an intelligent answer, as the question in an intelligent manner. Sorry didn't mean to scream.

Proper grammar and spelling show attention to detail and a concern for doing the right thing. Basically, people who cannot spell correctly are considered to be lazy and have no goals in life. If you cannot properly communicate, how can you expect to succeed in life?

There is a spell check. Why butcher the English language when you can easily correct the product of low intelligence and poor education?

It might be all in fun but spelling is important. There is spell check here and if you can't take the time to ensure your question is asked properly why would you expect that people will take you seriously?
