I'm wondering which occupations will be most sought after in about 10 years, so I can base my University course upon this? any ideas...

Instead of looking so far to the future why not concentrate on the 'now' and enjoy your life. Go with what you really like doing and it won't be hard work. Education is an on-going process so don't think you have to get everything right first time, there's time a-plenty to change direction. I'm almost 60 and completed a Master's degree last year!

You would be much better off doing a degree in something you're interested in, rather than trying to do a course in something you think will make you the most money.

Doctors, Dentists etc will always be sought after, but what's the point when you might struggle to qualyfy?

Most people don't really mind what the eventual degree is in, it's a foot in the door - but in any discipline and you should be able to move freely in an open market.

At the moment Law seems to be the big thing and it really never seem to go out of fashion.. if it does it has a resurgence of interest which is what is happening at the moment. It is perhaps one of the most oversubscribed subjects...
I'm studying Law at Warwick University and absolutely hate the theoretical sideof the subject and wish that I had done what my friend had which was study for a degree which I was more interested in then do the one year CPE Law conversion course which entitiles you to go onto Law school the same way in which Law students can.
The study of degree level law is boring but the practice is more interesting and you do not need to stick to the conventional Criminal, Contract or Litigation areas. You could do Media Law, Human Rights, Sports Law, Medical Law, American Law... just about any type of Law really.
So to sum up.. become a lawyer but don't study for a law degree as you would not really need to in the UK at least.

Never mind the occupation, go for the degree that is easiest to pass.

What are u going to do for seven years while ur waiting for your degree to get u the job u might want.

Do what you enjoy..... and can pass easily.
