If you have proof (bank statements, any documentation), there should be a lawyer near you who can assist you. But you should not have to go that far. Call Social Security, or go to your local office with your proof. Do not let them keep any original documents, have them make copies. If Social Security gaffs you off, get legal representation. Many lawyers will handle something like this for little or no fee.
I am a representative payee for my disabled son. If I am found to be misusing his funds (SSI), not only am I required to pay those funds back, but I could be looking at serious jail time. So could your payee.
You have, from your question, a valid disability. You have a right to have your money administered by someone who has your best interests in mind at all times. I understand the financial difficulty that obtaining legal help could pose for you. Many larger cities have legal aid that will also assist you.
Keep complaining to any and all who will listen until someone takes action. Don't give up. There are those who will not be happy with your payee committing fraud. Don't tell your payee you are doing anything. Let her dig her own hole and get caught by those who can do something -- and do something for you as well.
Good Luck. Email me and let me know what your results are!

Write or call the Social Security Administration and request that your payee account be audited. Because of the nature of your disability, you will face a very difficult task challenging the authority and rights of the current payee. Court appointed payees must pass a limited amount of scrutiny. They are also entitled to reasonable compensation for handling your finances.
Contact a local non-profit agency that works with the mentally ill and ask them if it's possible for them to be your representative payee or if they know another agency that provides that service. If they can't help you, contact your local ARC and see if they will take your account on. Good luck.
You should be able to demand an accounting along with pertinent documents; e.g., invoices, receipts, etc. relating to the use of your funds.

I have a friend who is on ssi and she has to have a payee too. But she changes her like she changes clothes if they are robbing her blind ( No pun intended). I know she had to do it a couple of times. How did you get a payee? If through ssi or court go back and tell them she is not managing your money well as you are always short and broke. They will look into it and she wont be able to do it anymore. Can you email me and tell me how you can read this if you are blind? what do computers have for this? My own curiousity. Thanx.

You must have a PSR worker? Or at least some kind of counselor? You need legal advice, you do not need to put up with any kind of fraud, especially with SSI.

Contact "Adult Protective Services " in your state, and tell them what's going on.
