It is not his responsibility to fix it since you were awarded the house in the divorce. However, if he knew this before he moved out and knows his kids have to reside in the house and was a real man, he would fix it.

At this point, you need to be the bigger person and get it fixed. Perhaps check with some friends or family who will do it for only the cost of the materials.

Good luck!

I would not have let the leak go that long. The longer the house leaks-the more damage it is doing. If it were my house with him or without him-when he did not fix the leak within a week or two--I would have fixed it myself.
If you have no idea on repairs, then find a good self home improvement book, or check out websites.
Home remodeling/home repairs is not that hard, and lots of women do it for themselves. It saves money and gives satisfaction. It is also a lot of fun.
He has moved on, so he will definetely not be fixing anything for you. Good luck!

Since you guys are now divorced and thats your house now and he no longer lives there then its your responsibility to pay for it but If he was a real man he would fix the leaks for the children. But he should of fixed it a long time ago. Since he hasn't done it already i'd have someone else fix it before it gets any worse.

(Wow, you English is bad, sweetie, don't try to get a job running an office.... your skills are not even at the sixth grade level. This thing does have a spell check, you know.....)

If your divorce is final, and the house was awarded to you, the responsibility of paying for any repair work is yours, sorry. He owes you nothing beyond what your settlement was. It makes no difference who filed......

Get a second job to pay for it, sweetie. And, if you have the smarts, go back to school in the evenings so that you qualify for a better job. You can't be making much at what you are doing if you can't afford even to fix leaks in your roof....

If the house is yours only now I'm afraid you're stuck with it. You may be able to go to court and have them make him pay for it, I don't know. It is in your children's best interest to live in a house without leaks.

Either way, you need to have the leaks fixed so child protective services doesn't get YOU in trouble for not providing a good home for them.

Your lawyer should help you find the answer to this.

The more important question is "Is he going to fix it?". The answer is probably not. If you want to be in a non-leaking house, you better get it fixed. You can try to get him to reimburse you for the cost, but it doesn't sound like he will.

Can you make him pay for it after the divorce? I doubt it. This should have been done before.
You need to get someone else to do it and just pay payments with it, if the house is yours now, it's your responsibility.

NOTHING IN LIFE IS FAIR. IF YOUR EX WAS ANY KIND OF MAN HE WOULD HAVE FIXED IT, BUT BY HIS BEHAVIOR WE CAN SEE THAT HE ISN'T.
FIX IT YOURSELF AND GET ON WITH YOUR LIFE, HE IS NOT WORTH THE STRESS.
