Only if you use a satellite system, check out Direct TV. It is a little more expensive than most other options, but if you live in an isolated area then you can get it. This is the only way to get a wireless broadband for a situation where you don't have any wires coming into your house.

You could use a cell phone for wireless Internet access, but I don't think it would be real broadband. It is limited by the signal sent out from the cell towers. The ads I have seen offer an Internet connection; they don't mention its speed. If you use a cell phone for you Internet connection, then I don't see how you are going to get the signal to your computer.

Otherwise there has to be a wire to get the signal into the your house or business. I use a cable modem and Time Warner provides my Internet connection. Then I run it into my wireless router for my personal network. If you have cable, but not a land line then this solution could be for you. The speed of the cable varies with the number of people on line, but I rarely have problems with mine (usually only when Yahoo gets clogged up).

You can also get Internet access through a fiber optic line. Some major complexes, usually businesses, are wired for this. This will give you a very fast connection, but it costs a lot.

You could set up an Internet WiFi hotspot, like most Starbucks have, but you still need to get the signal into your home or business.

If you don't have a landline then I suggest cable. It is cheaper than a satellite and doesn't have the light speed delay (about 1 second). If you have cable TV then they will give you a good deal on broadband access. If you are out in the boonies, like the middle of the desert, then a Satellite may be the only way to get a broadband Internet connection.

Yes because for Wireless connection you only need a Wireless Router which can be purchased from your Service Provider.

Landlines are needed to connect the intrent with a wired connection.

Hope that helps!

In addition to what Trip said (i.e. cable tv), you can also use satellite, and if you are using a laptop you can get wireless service through your cell phone company in many areas.
