Depends what you are into, really.

I can list off some favourites of mine, and things that might be worthwhile for you to pursue.

Long Train Runnin' - Doobie Brothers
Stairway to Heaven - Led Zepplin
Under the Bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Don't Stop Believin' - Journey
Back in Black - AC/DC
Don't Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult

This might be a little bigger than what you were looking for, but Rolling Stone put out a list of what they had found to be the top 500 greatest rock songs of all time. http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/500songs

It might also be a pretty good reference

Guess it depends on your generation. The 80s were cool, of course i also grew up on my parents picks of the 60s. Def Leppard, Aerosmith, Air Supply, The Beatles, Bobbie Vinton, those are just a few artists, theres o so many songs to choose from. today i favor country, so im not really in todays rock

Anything by the band Hinder is good. Carousel by Buckcherry, anything by Chevelle is awesome. How about stuff from back in the day like Skid Row or Motley Crue? The first Staind album has some good headbanger songs on it too.
