Not necessarily. I have a lot of friends who started their periods when they were 17! But, I also know a few girls who started when they were 8. Genetics have a lot to do with it, so I would ask your mom...But her answer doesn't necessarily have anything to do with wether or not you start your period very earily or very late. The average is 12 or 13, but that doesn't mean that it's a bad thing to start your period at a different age, rather that age be 8 or 17. :)

Probably not. Most girls don't start until they are 12 or 13. You are probably thinking this because your friends are starting to get theirs? Well, I wouldn't worry about it too much! If you don't get it by the time you are 16 or so, call a doctor for an appointment. There may be something wrong. Other than that, enjoy your time without it. It's a pain!

There is no hard & fast rule of when girls will start their menses. I started when I was 10, but my sister didn't start till she was nearly 16. Every girl is different. Don't get too uptight about it - girls are definitely maturing physically earlier these days....you're just a little bit ahead of the curve.
Be sure to tell your mother - she'll need to buy you the right types of protection and help you with any problems you'll possibly have (cramping, etc).
Good luck & welcome to the first stages of womanhood!

It's not common, but it sometimes does happen, so don't worry. You just started puberty a little earlier than some other girls. It's nothing to worry over, though. A couple of my friends started theirs when they were 9 .

There is no magic number for when you start your period, but this is a question best put to your mother or another loving female figure in your life. Peace!
