My legs have been aching to day, and also the sides of my hips and lower back. I've been getting cramps in my calves in the middle of the night the last couple of nights too!?? I'm not huge at all just a little round belly, so I don't think it's because of the weight of my tummy? Why would they be feeling this way??

Since there are so many changes going on in your body, you will have these aches and pains. I had to sleep with a pillow in between my legs to take some of the pressure off my legs and lower back while pregnant. (while sleeping on my side)
If its really bothering you to where you are unable to sleep talk to your doctor to see if he can suggest something. Maybe some exercises to help relieve the pain.

The achy & heavy feeling in your legs is due to increased fluid from pregnancy. You likely find that the symptoms are worse in the afternoon and evening, as excess fluid collects in the tissues.

Push on the tissue on the top of your foot, side of your foot, and calf with your thumb for 3 seconds. If a pitting mark is left, and it doesn't spring back right away - then you have edema (swelling).

Reducing salt intake and keeping your legs elevated will help somewhat, but not totally.

The leg cramps you describe are likely due to decreased magnesium. Stretch your muscles frequently. There really aren't any other 'cures' for this.

The pain in your lower back is likely from the weight of your belly pulling the tendons that reach around your abdomen on both sides. A pregnancy belt is helpful, as it lessens the tension on the lower back.

Hip pain and / or buttock pain may be sciatica - which is caused by a compression of the nerves that lead to the legs from the lower spine. Again - the belt may help release some of the pressure - alleviating the symptoms.

It's definitely normal. The cramps in your calves are different than the pains in your hips & back, though.

Eat at least a banana every day, and make sure that you're getting enough calcium. The lower leg cramps are because you're low on potassium.

The legs in your hips & lower back, is just because at this time baby is starting to put on weight. The increasing weight of baby is causing your body to strain. Even 1/2 pound is hard on your body. Baby might also be putting pressure on your sciatic nerve in your back. This is definitely the case, if you feel funny when you lay directly on your back.

Lay on your left side when you rest. Now, that you're almost in the 3rd trimester, is when you need to think about putting your feet up more often, and resting as often as you can. As baby begins to gain weight, your body will have more stress on it.

I'm 25 weeks and I'm experiencing the same things for the last 3 weeks. i sometimes wake up in the middle of the night crying from the cramps. and my lower back is so bad that i get my husband to massage when i can and i have even gotten 1 maternity massage so far. my doctor told me this is all related to pregnancy and normal. someone told me that there's a certain nutrient your body is missing is why the leg cramps happen. i think it's phosphorus or something. i also heard eating bananas or massaging them before going to bed helps. i know the massaging helps but i don't know bout the bananas.
but i know if you wake up with them again if you point your point your toes toward your belly it loosens the cramps. or waking up your man to have him massage them. those are the methods i use.
hope i helped you some.

I've been having lower back pain too (I'm 27 weeks). I read that there are exercises that you can do to strengthen your abdominal muscles so that your back isn't carrying all the extra baby weight. I also heard that swimming is a really good activity.
