I am currently in a vocational program where I may earn my CCNA (and am over halfway there). The salary rate for a CCNA holder differs from 40k to 50k a year, but it is expected that you go further to earn other degrees such as your CCNP or A+ Hardware and/or A+ Software. Networking is something that won't be going away any time soon, since computers and networks themselves are being needed more and more.

As for the difficulty, the course I'm in is seen by some others as difficult, but I myself am not having too much trouble with it. There is some math involved when trying to learn about VLSM Subnets or Subnetting, but the bulk of the course is in beign able to memorize commands and apply them to actual network configurations on a router, so that a network may function correctly.

Most networking courses are common in colleges and technical schools to start. As you go further down the line, they become rarer. Many people that pursue careers in networking can also get aid from the company with which they are learning to network for (for example, Cisco). This is because there are many sets of networking protocols and the like, that companies are competing for dominance over. In general though, programs at colleges are done in sections mostly. The sections are usually in two year segments, and some of the highest level networkers can be as old as 60, and still going for some very high level certifications. It depends on the pace you need to go at.

In general though, the programs aren't any more expensive than a typical college program or technical program.

Salary Range can vary between 35 k -50 k Initially.

Courses are not tough what requires is sheer determination and will to achieve and conquer the best and rest assured success will be yours.

As far as MCSE, CCNA is concerned you need to keep updating yourself year by year and In CCNA you have to renew your certification once after 3 years.

Good Luck

Go to www.payscale.com and take their salary survey. Once you have completed the survey for your cousin's current job, you will be able to do a bunch of "what if" scenarios. What if got a CCNA or CCNP? It will tell you what the new average salary would be. He would be able to tell what certifications or degrees would have the most impact on his salary.

I would recomend doing MCSE, CCNA & RHCE. This way you will have knowledge all (or most) domains a sysadmin is required to know. Doing 3 courses would take a long time. It must be feasible to work in BPO as well as to study, i know a lot of people in bpo who study as well as work.

The salary/remuneration for a particular job is the market value for a particular profession and designation at the city/town where the office is located. Job postings at websites like Monster, Yahoo HotJobs and Careerbuilder carry information about salaries. The Govt Dept of Labor, (www.bls.gov) Bureau of statistics has information about median salaries for different professions and details of additional compensation offered. Other online resources are salary.com and payscale. Your salary will also depend on your educational qualification and how you handle your career.
