Erica Hope played Nikki from 1978 to 1979 which IMDB.com says was the first time Nikki appeared on Y&R.

"Melody Thomas Scott, who stars as Nikki Newman on The Young and the Restless, recently celebrated 25 years in the role, having joined the cast in February, 1979."
