What are you a tree hugger who lives back east where they are telling you that the mean old loggers are cutting down all of the trees & we are all going to suffocate because we don't have any trees??????
Well, let me tell you something, I was born & raised in Oregon the TIMBER CAPITAL of the U.S. We have always managed our forests with replanting & selective logging. Before you ask a question like that perhaps it would be better if you were to check the facts....... because we have a lot of trees. I no longer live in Oregon, but my family does. We are timber folks!! Hard working & Honest!!!
I apologize for getting urked, it's just that I know a lot of people whose lives depend on the timber industry & they went through a lot of hard times when Clinton & his cronies tried to shut it down. I'll just say this, the people of the Pacific Northwest have trees because we don't cut them down, pave over them & put up another shopping center or another office building......where the only green is a token tree on a side walk. We have hills & mountains FULL OF TREES!!!!!
I have an idea, look at the list below... These are just SOME of the items made from WOOD PRODUCTS....... Which ones do you have????? Which would you have no problem giving up????
If the Timber industry were shut down??????
fuel, space craft reentry shields, book paper, football helmets, telephone casings, roofs, houses, piano keys, washing machine impellers, toilet seats, adhesives, medicine, vinegar, cosmetics, oil well drilling compounds, fertilizers, water treatments, insecticides, ceramics, asbestos replacement, cleaning compounds, disposable medical clothing, diapers, railroad ties, power poles, steering wheels, charcoal, rubber tires, foam rubber, antifoaming agents, baking cups, bread wrapping, skis, gift boxes, price tags, cd labels, movies, flooring, insoles & heels for shoes, facial tissue, bath tissue, paper towels, liquid nail polish, hair spray, kitchen cabinets, gunstocks, basketball courts, bowling alleys, magazines, draperies, bedspreads, pool tables & pool sticks, gum, schools, stores, offices, churches, caskets, tables, chairs, beds, boxsprings, chair & sofa frames, liquid soap, telephone books, luggage, bibles, postage stamps, church pews, church pulpits, altars, organs, violins, drums, frozen food packages, bats, medical stretchers, boats, masts, Christmas trees, windmills, etc., etc.
The tree may be used as SOLID WOOD, FIBERS, CHEMICALS, LIGNIN (Nature's glue that holds the wood fibers together) or FILLERS & BASES for various day-to-day items.
The forests & the products of the forest are too often separate in people's mind. Once the tree has changed it's shape, few people remember it's previous form.
Trees GROW BACK!!! that is why they ARE A RENEWABLE RESOURCE. With forest management we will NOT run out of trees. If they were left uncut, there are over 1000 items that would disappear from our homes, businesses, etc. including our homes, businesses, etc. Also, if left uncut, insects & disease would run rampant & unchecked, devestating entire forests. Also left uncut, Mother Nature WILL take care of her own with devestating wild fires.
