Mmmm should I answer this seriously or be trivial?
Obviously people feel more comfortable answering a question that has no meaning. Answering a serious question implies a seriously thought out answer. I only answer serious questions when I see that the previous answers have missed something out, or if I have any further knowledge. Trivia is easy, who cares. Personally I find my serious questions always receive less answers, unless its religious, always get the Christians to answers no matter how trivial!

A lot of posters are here just to have fun and to rack up points, probably so they can mail more times a day.
I answer all types of questions and quite enjoy the more serious ones. Tracking down obscure facts and stuff like that exercises the brain and the fingers and keeps me off the streets!

I'm surprised you don't get more in the politics category. Everyone has something to say about it, lol. Maybe people have matured (hahahahahahahahahaha) and are more interested in learning new cooking recipes and trivial tidbits of information rather than fight with strangers on the Internet. Maybe.

I think its because food and drink questions or dating questions are easier to answer, everyone has their likes and dislikes and its almost like there is no wrong answer, but when people talk about politics, you know people may have strong views that might clash with others and they just rather keep that to themselves.

Since politics is such a hotbed of diversity I'm surprised you don't get more answers. I think this place has become a hangout for little kids, so they don't know HOW to answer serious questions like that. Honestly, that's what I think.

Ow! don't make me think. It's an average or a percentage question. I get it. Depending on how many people are interested in any given subject available here that really want to express their opinion at any given moment you get your answer. Always all of the above.

I know what you mean. I once asked "What's your favourite cake" and got 101 answers! Today I asked about ice cream and got 50. I think it's because everyone has an opinion on food, so it's an easy 2 points.

I think we are bombarded with so much bad news and gloom daily that most people use Yahoo Answers as a way to have some fun, unwind, get real silly without being accountable. I know I love it.

Yes you have, sorry you wasted 5 points on that one. I probably would have asked the same thing eventually myself anyway. So oh well.

yes you have people feel free to talk about mundane rather than trying to articulate a answer that won't backfire....also people come on here to get away from that too
