I am a new nursing grad and I just took a drug test for my new job. They said my urine was not the correct temp and dumped it out. It was grounds for immediate termination. Is there anything I can do to fight it. I went and paid $60 to have my own 8 panel drug screen done, so I can prove I am clean. I would appreciate any ideas, or advice. Thanks.

As I said I am clean, I didn't alter the test in anyway. The employer said they will not re-test nor will they take the results from the test I paid for. It is automatic termination. Just thought maybe someone else has heard of this and had advice. I am a single mom and just busted my butt to get my licence. I definitely would not do anything to mess with it. Thanks for all responses.

It WAS my urine, straight from the bladder. If I messed with my urine, etc, why would I be willing to spend my own money on a new test, or offer to take any other tests.

Give the drug screen results to your employers, make sure it has a date on it, and ask to take the test again. If they still say no, you might want to get legal advice.

Yes, next time you are tested for whatever job, give them urine straight from your bladder.

That way you don't have to pay $60 to have your own 8 panel drug screen done as proof that you are "clean".

We turn away more bogus applicants because of trying to cover it up and have heard all the stories and learn new ones almost every week. There are no second chances, no apologies. You are now on file. Hit the highway dude.

you're a nurse so i assume this job is the medical field. do you know of any medical condition that would cause your urine to be a lower than average temp? if not ask a doctor or look it up on-line. if you have a proven legitimate medical condition you may be able to fight it. but the question then is do you really want to work for these people who aren't even willing to hear your case? there are so many nursing jobs out there, i would think you could find another. if it does turn out that you have a medical condition, be prepared to tell all prospective employers immediately to avoid this in the future.

Find out when you can re-take it and plan accordingly. It might mean looking for another job. As you know, there are MANY jobs for nurses--but not the one's that play with drugs.

I notice you didn't deny or explain why your urine was not as hot as it would be if you just urinated.

Did you bring in clean urine and try and pass if off as your own?
