The screen stays blank and nothing happens. What could the problem be?

The cpu powers on and the keyboard lights up. The monitor is on but nothing on the screen. It's just blank.

Check the connection to the monitor, or if this is a laptop take out the battery and try without it.

Make sure the power button the back (usually at the top) is on along with the on/off on the front.

What OS are you running on there? Try a 98 bootdisk

new monitor or a dead battery. Even desktops have batteries.
