What is the difference between love you have for your best friend or your brother and the love you have for your girlfriend or your wife? Is it only that that includes physical expression?

I think that the basis of the interaction you have with each plays a part in the type of love that you feel.
You are in entirely different situations with them and so the extent or scope of the feelings you have for each are different.
I think 'familial' love is (brother/ best friend) is more of a "we're the same" kind of thing. Like equals that understand 'where you came from'
In a relationship you tend to deal with more personal and individual conversations and situations. Also, the responsibility that you have towards a wife is different from that of a sister.
Not to say that you can't look at a spouse as equal or have personal experiences with family, but the different things that you go through shine a different light on each.
I want to say that familial love is more of a subtle or ingrained feeling. It doesn't seem to be acknowledged or celebrated as much.
This is a tough one lol.
I definitely feel that the dynamics of each aren't equivilent, but I don't entirely understand why lol
But I don't believe that it's a purely physical thing.
You can love someone (wife/husband way) without actually 'meeting them' or just from phone interactions or the internet, and there's something that distinguishes them from being 'just friends'
Possibly, it's just the type of conversations that you have, things that you would reveal to a potential lover, something that wouldn't be the norm for a friend or family member.
I don't know... hopefully you have some scientific explanation for us at the end lol

No, I do not believe it is only in the physical aspect that makes the difference. If for some reason you were not able to be physically intimate with your mate. I do not believe she or he could still give you that what you get from a brother or a true friend.

A lover is someone you are physically attracted to, a best friend, not so much. If you want the feel of the lover's arms around you, can almost feel it, dream about it, fantasize about it, that's a lover. Someone you feel comfortable sitting in your pajamas and talking all night to or hanging out at the movies or a bar, most likely a friend.

i think the difference between love you have for your best friend and the love you have for a girlfriend or boyfriend is more than physical expression. It's thought and desire. Of course you think about your family and friends but when you think about your girlfriend or boyfriend it's like a constant dream. You constantly think about what they doing and thinking. And when you think about them it makes you smile, and you can't wait to see or talk to them again. And you desire to be with them, to be held in their arms, to look into their eyes and to savour every moment with them. I don't know about you but with my family i can't wait to leave them... haha... i hope this helps. I also think it's something that's going to need to be experienced to truly understand it.

I believe that physical expression is the only thing that separates the two.
