You should confront them with it. Tell them they lied to you and you don't appreciate it. If this problem continues you will never know when they are truthful. Neither will they. They will get in the habit of lying and pretty soon won't be able to distinguish it from the truth.

So go ahead and talk to them about it.

it really depends on what they're lying to u about and what kind of personality u have. i am a usually confrontational person. when ppl lie to me, i expose them and demand an answer as to why they thought they needed to lie to me. but u might be non-confrontational so u might want to let it go if it's not a big huge life-changing lie, you know? but if it is something important and u don't like huge public loud confrontations, pull the liar aside and discuss the situation with them politely, letting them know u r hurt by their actions.

Well that is a tough one. Truly to me it depends on who it is and what it is about. If it is someone very close I would say if you are 100% certain then bring it up and see if you two can talk about it. If it is something that could truly hurt someone then I may let it go. I am a very passive person. Most assertive people would bring it up right away. Assertive people are the ones who go on jerry springer and montel. Passive people are the ones who stay home and deal with it. I do agree though that if you let them slide by with lying to you, chances are you just gave them permission to lie to you again but I wouldnt say that life is over. It really depends on what is in your heart and what the secret is. Repost this question with alittle more detailed information.

If you know someone is lying to you.
If its a friend, I'll hint it out just not to embarass them.
If they are not friends, I will make it look like I've taken the whole hook and sink.
People like this will keep on coming with more if they think that they've got us everytime and also so easily.
When it matters most to them, example when they are trying to bullshit again in front of the Boss, I'll politely pull the rug under him, and see how good he can make his escapee.
Dealing with creeps like those, no point confronting them, they'll point the finger at somebody else and also teach them to be careful of us.

If it's an important issue, confront the person. If the person is not really a close person to you, the lie doesn't really affect you, then let it go.

I have to confront the person, I like people who tell the truth and I can't play stupid games, I'm not into it.
If a man (a man I was seeing) lies to me, then perhaps I don't need to have a relationship with someone who lies. Period.

When I pointed out to him he was lying he felt so very stupid and knew he couldn't do it again with me, I'm not somebody to fool.

it would depend on the strength of the lie. if it's a petty lie that wouldnt cause any pain or trouble then i'd let it go, rising to pettiness isnt worth the hassle. but if it's a serious lie that can only end in tears or worse then it needs addressing.

WELL, YOU CAN'T CHANGE A PERSON'S CHARACTER AND IF THIS IS HIS/HER M.O.(MODE OF OPERATION) THEN JUST LET IT GO. CONFRONTING THEM WILL ONLY CAUSE AN ARGUMENT IN WHICH THEY WILL TRY TO JUSTIFY THEIR LIES AND MAKE YOU THINK THAT YOU'RE THE ONE WHO'S CRAZY...IT'S NOT WORTH IT TO ME.
