I have no idea how to deduct 12.5% from £263:96 , how would I work it out ? Help please!

Convert 12.5 to a percentage 1/100 * 12.5 = 0.125
263.96 x 0.125 = £32.995 so about £33

Deduct Working 1 from the original sum:
263.96 (original)
- 33.00 (w1)
= 230.96 (remaining)

Alternatively 100% - 12.5% = 87.5%
Convert to a percentage 0.875 (87.5/100)
Multiply by the original amount

263.96 x 0.875 = 230.965
£230.97 rounded up (depends on where you round)

Looks to me like someone else is trying to take the easy way out and cheating on their homework! I'm sorry, I don't know.

Ever heard of a calculator! £263.96 - 12½% = £230.96, simple.

=230.965
and round up the half penny
