I'm thinking Bon Jovi, but maybe Guns and roses. What are your thoughts?

Bon Jovi.
they're probably the only american band that could sell out stadiums wherever they go in the world. 100,000,000+ albums sold. and great hair!

Probably the Eagles. Guns and Roses only really produced one classic album although varios sensational tracks appeared on other albums. Bon Jovi would be a close second

Van Halen........... gotta be the Numero Uno band for the US, Eddie Van Halen.... wow... who is there out there now and in the past that is anywhere as good as he his.
Dave Lee Roth....... what a showman, knocks spots off Steve Tyler, Bon Jovi and there aint a single member of Guns and Roses that has the slightest bit of carisma, so folks it gotta be the VH

Not Nirvana, although they were a great and important band. If you mean greatest as in terms of music (sales don't mean s**t), it would have to be the mighty Pixies! No one sounded like them, before or after, however much they try to imitate!
