I think I figured that out a couple years ago....It's kinda gross...But, seriously, I think it's to pick their noses!
Edited.......OMG! Coke?! Really?!!! Ewww...I'm going to be watching those nail growers more closely! heheheh!

Assuming you're asking about the finger nail on their little finger, it could be a holdover from when using coke was thought to be sooooo cool. People would scoop up some of the drug with that fingernail and snort it. To me, it not only looks outdated, but tacky.

You mean the nail right? I used to do that when I was a teenager in the 80's. There was no real reason for me doing it, just liked it.
Maybe now there is some reason that I am not aware of...

i understand it to be that they either pick their noses with it or to snort coke, since most people in this world are right-handed. a "leftie" would have his left pinkie grown out. again, i don't know this for sure, it's just what i've heard.

Maybe some of these are true.
But I find it useful for picking those loose change and paper notes and memos without ruffling them up.
They serve me better than my bulky hands. LOL

Sometimes using a fingernail as a tool is very useful. But you would never need more than one.

people who smoke pot do that.........it is so that they have one long finger nail to seperate the pot seeds out. ps.. .I do not do that... I just know from an old friend from my old job.

my boyfriend claims that it is his lucky nail and that it grows faster than the rest. not sure i believe him. i hate it too

it used for nose candy... people use it to scoop up and sniff it meth or coke
