You probably need to configure your router...look at your router instruction booklet (or look at router makers website) it will give you a MAC number to type into address bar and a login/password for your router type...you can then connect via your browser.

Good luck

You have to realize that a wireless router is both a router and a wireless access point. The router creates an internal LAN inside your house. The WAP simply allows you to connect to that LAN using wifi.

The router also needs to proxy the computers on your LAN to the internet and back. So it's entirely possible that you connect to your LAN using Wifi, but that the router isn't connected to the internet. There are also settings that could prevent your wifi connected PC from using the LAN.

There are a number of things I'd check to troubleshoot this problem. The first is the Details of your wifi connection. What is the IP your computer has? What is the default gateway set to. In general, people set up the router to provide DHCP services. You still might need to configure DNS servers in the router as well, so that when the laptop gets an IP, it also gets the right default gateway and DNS servers. All are needed for Internet connectivity to work.

You will need to get into the router administration and check those settings, and also to verify that the router is connecting to your ISP. Depending on the ISP you'll have to set the router up. For example, I have a friend who uses Verizon DSL as an ISP. Verizon uses a protocol called PPPoE. I had to configure this in the router, and provide the name and password for his Verizon account. I then verified that the router was connecting and working properly. You can see this in that the router will get a "real IP" from the ISP.

Is this actually your wireless access point? It sounds like you have connected to one that is not accepting your computer (either due to an incorrect WEP/WAP key or due to a mismatch between the allowed MAC addresses).
All the "excellent signal connection" means is that there is a good link between you and the access point.
If you bring up the wireless connection details you are liable to find that the router did not give you some combination of
a) an IP address
b) a DNS server
c) a gateway.
If this is your equipment, you probably need to re-boot the wireless router.

Be sure you are connected to YOUR wireless network, and that it is secure.

You can do this by, viewing the Available Wireless Networks, and connect to your on the list.

Make sure you set up your wireless connection to use encryption protection, both on your computer, and your wireless router.

If you have set up your wireless connection with security i.e. WEP, disable it and connect with an unsecure network.. if that works then try a different setup for your security settings...

try turning off and back on your modem and if that does not work go to your internet browser, tools, internet options, connections, lan settings, and turn everything off in there and that should make it work
