I have to give more details for my question.
I work for the Parts dept of a car dealer, we used to work 8 hours a day and one saturday a month.
Now we are told we will be working 9 hours a day and every other saturday, on saturdays we work 10 hours and get no lunch hour break, also, we never get breaks during any of the other days.
Is this legal in California.

We get pay a base salary and a comission.

Actually, salary or no, it IS ILLEGAL to refuse a worker their lunch break, or two 10-minute breaks per day. Take this up with the labor board. There should also be posted, within easy access to employees (like, say, in the lunch room) a large poster that lists the legal obligations of an employer to their employees. As to the long hours, yes, salaried workers are often expected to work such longer, or odd, hours, but you cannot be denied your daily breaks or lunch break.

I wonder if is work exploitation i work as special ed. in a school district we have little ones with autism few of them severe one of them takes his cloth off ,the other two are rinners and they wonder off , the teacher wants nothing to do with the kids,the teacher doesnt care if a child is missing, or nude as long as his/her lunch brake 1:15 minutes doesnt get interrupted,she is very unstable in regards of what and how she wants things to get done on day to day basis and during the day she changes what ever the kids are going to do,and she doesnt care if they eat or not she just wants to be comfortable by herself in the quiet air condition room .she sends the kids out 3times 35minutes in the morning,one hour and fifteen minutes in lunch time and 30-40 minutes before they go to school ,she doesnt walk the kids to cafeteria and when she wants them in she justt ring the bell and i have to be chasing the kids one at a time to get them in and when in class she sits at the compu. and if she reads a book is all from her sit and kids are all over the place i get this and that one and the other one and turn on the lights for her and open and closed the door for her and i change six diapers but she still demands that i do this and that with the other ones she does with them nothing she refuses to make groups so we can teach them something.i get mild pain in my lower back,and exausted evry day from the time i get them from the bus they are my students but she commands from her sit all day and of course she is the teacher and gets the credit for the improvement and the big check she takes home 6000 a month im very stress to see how much she care less about children and her attitude is like she is a little princess she always is fixing her hair and putting lipstic when she steps out of the room . she is 55 and size 16 no ody does anything about it even if she is in the room all the time that kids are out with me.

It is legal as long as they are paying overtime, or you are on salary.

It is worker exploitation, just not illegal.

Certain industries are allowed to not give breaks. If it is deemed that is too busy to handle giving breaks, they don't have to...like the restaurant and other service industries.

It is never legal to prevent your employees from taking a lunch break. It is your right to have a break. If you choose not to take a break that is your choice, but you have to be given the option.

It's no to the point of illegal yet, however if it is ethical is another question.
