Next time stop shouting and ask him if he would like to talk about it instead. He might be just trying to shout louder than you to be heard and win the argument.

On the other hand, if it's because he is a bully then you could look at mediation or Relate

This has happened since Adam and Eve, like a me-Tarzan, you-Jane syndrome. Its somewhat in bred throughout the generations. I dont think hes really trying to belittle you intentionally but it does appear like that but his macho head of family attitude takes over, and he appears like a bully. Guys have been raised with the belief that they have the final sayso, so they overshout you to gain that advantage. Maybe someday men will change.

Because they can, and women let them, which is so wrong. Women are so silly for staying in a relationship, where they are bullied and abused, its no way to live, and its so unfair for the kids to have to put up with that sort of thing, from the fathers. It also carries on down the line, sons seem to thing that because their fathers were abusive, then they can.

You are obviously with the wrong man! My husband would never belittle me he respects me too much! Im not saying we dont row (who doesnt!!) but we dont make eachother feel bad. For your own sake and self esteem get out of the damaging relationship you are in before it takes over your life!! Good Luck and be strong you deserve so much better!!!

It's a fight, and I'd bet a woman would do the same.

That being said....since you asked in the "marriage and divorce" category...if you're married and want to stay that way, get some counseling. You need to learn to argue without shouting.

If you're divorced, or working on it...don't talk to the idiot, except through your lawyer, if that's the way he's being - and record every conversation from now on, to show that he's being verbally abusive.

Men are driven by hormones that dictate aggressive behavior. A civilized man learns to control them. Men today are a mix of those who can and those who can't control their baser drives. Sometimes these are beyond the person's control due to chemical imbalances in the brain. Because of a man's nature, it is difficult to get him to admit this and seek any help.

Also, they are bigger.

I think is is their way of trying to show their masculinity Maybe. Who really knows. I have been in a realtionship for 6 years and there are times that he still does that until I walk out of the room. Maybe they feel that they have to yell to have their way and let us know that we dont always get to wear the pants.
