Yes, there was a Olympic marathon runner that had a burst appendix just before the games were to begin. He still decided to exercise and take part and went on winning the event. Before the next games he was run over by a car though!!! It is a true story about perseverance. Cant remember all the details but I'm sure you will be able to find it somewhere, Still ask your doctor!

Ask her doctor. Having been a dancer for many years, and having had my appendix out......I would probably say that the scar will be too tight at that point for any jumping/rolling exertion. But everyone heals differently.

I would book her in at the doctors the day before she is due to perform to get their recommendation.

Absolutely NOT!. She can be in the next dance show. Her health is more important. Don't bother the doctor with silly questions. Common sense tells us that dancing like that, so soon after surgery, is a totally whacked idea. Just say NO!

Definitely not. Will need a bit longer to heal properly. Two weeks from an appendix op seems far too soon for such acrobatics! She'll probably be right peed off with you, but tough! It's for her own good!

When I had mine out my dr told me not to do any physical activity for 6 weeks...this includes things like dance and even gentle jogging because you can easilly tear the internal stitches...its not a good idea to let her because even if she doesn't do any damage it will hurt a great deal after doing it.

My advise is that do not allow your daugther to dance if the appendix is there. Other suggestion, you may go to the doctor so that you know the condition...

How does she feel in herself? Does she think she can do it? Let her try a few moves out at home with you watching and you should be able to see if shes in any pain (even if shes trying to cover up).

Kids can heal very quickly...but if you believe she is in pain then definitely no.

Good luck

check with your doctor but i would agree with you esp if she has just had her stitches out, i wouldn't want to run the risk of rupturing them or anything like that. A good sign though i think if she wants to do, she must feel ready and well enough if she's asking to do it, but just ask your doctor and go with his advice.

Best thing is ask your doctor, if she's in pain then obviously she can't do it, and if dancing is gonna cause her more injury, the best thing would be to speak to her doctor about it though.
