i know how that is i had a friend that was always there for me when i had problems even tho she didn't always have advice to give just the fact that she offered a shoulder to cry on helped.more than she could ever know! Just let her know that no matter what you are going to be there! and be honest.... tell her i don't know exactly what to say but i am sorry you are going through this.. and just remind her over and over again that in some way things will ALWAYS get better!!! so don't give up tell her to just have faith and start each day with the phrase "its gonna be better"~=)

We all run into that predicament. But the truth is, sometime its just good enough to lend an ear and be supportive!
Just let your friend know that no matter what the situation may be, that you have their back and that you are always there to listen, whether you have the answers or not.
I can guarantee they will be pleased to just know that they have you as their friend!

Just listen. Getting things out, talking to someone can be very beneficial in itself. They may not want advice. Acknowledge that you have not experienced what's going on with them. Maybe all you can do is support them by being there for them. That can be a very valuable thing. Just be their friend; you don't have to say anything.

There may be nothing you can say or do to make them feel ok so it's better to just listen and be there for them to sound off to. Unless they are thinking of doing something to endager themselves or someone else, it is best to just listen and perhaps answer that you don't really know what to say because you haven't been in their situation but that you care and want to be there for them.

Awesome

I can relate to you when they ask me what to do I tell them take it or leave it advice and if they don't take it I reassure them that I am here to be supportive of them if I am totally stumped I tell them I don't know but I am here as your friend and I am here to be supportive of you and reassure them that they can always come to you and you can at least let them vent while you listen

The best thing you can do is just listen to them. Sometime they just want to say it out loud. Just offer them your frienship.
