I love WALMART! It is the only place we have to shop unless we drive a good way! bye now

I wouldn't necessarily say that only liberals or socialists are anti-Wal Mart but I would agree that a lot of us are... with good reason.

For one, Wal Mart is owned by the wealthiest family in the world consisting of 4 brothers and sisters each worth over 20 billion dollars, the Waltons.

Not saying wealth is bad but I am saying it is hard to contemplate how a family can gain so much profit while exploiting cheap labor, sweat shops in China and purposely using tactics to put small businesses in America out of business.

IE, Wal Mart was convicted of price gauging in the 90s and has been charged in 3 different countries with violating monopoly laws.

But, with all that said, the #1 thing that bothers me about Wal Mart is their little known evolvement in manipulating trade tariffs between us and China. They have so much power that they literally are dictating what the trade tariffs will or won't be.

Liberal-Socialists are anti Capitalist and WalMart stands at the forefront of Capitalism today. They are now the Worlds largest Employer. Any Company or Organization that takes away from the peoples dependance upon Government assistance is the enemy.
L-S wants to keep us under their control by creating a Cradle to the Grave dependance. A Sembiotic Relationship as was evident in new Orleans recently, of course we all saw the results of that didn't we?

Ironic you say socialists are against Wal-Mart.

1/2 of Wal-Mart employees don't get health insurance from their employer and so they rely on public support health care or are treated as uninsured patients so that insured patients are charged more to cover their cost.

They build their stores with tax increment financing and then desert them when it is time for them to start paying taxes to support police, fire protection, and roads that served them.

Why is Wal-Mart allowed to be such a welfare company on the social dole?

Two reasons:

1) Wal-Mart is a major employer and they cannot get their unions in there.

2) Wal-Mart is a success and tends to increase the buying power of Liberals' constituency, the poor. Any increas in the living standard of the poor may result in the poos's belief in their own abilities rather than the power of government solutions.

PS: I gotta say this to one_sera_phim:
Once there is a union, it is no longer an option.....

Lots of people like to gripe about big, successful corporations. It makes them feel important and knowledgeable. Wal-mart wasn't the first. They griped about Sears, they griped about GM and Ford, they griped about IBM and Microsoft and all of the big oil and drug companies. The newspapers and this site are always full of people griping about Halliburton because Dick Cheney ran it long ago. Many of them don't know anything about the firm, some can't even spell the name, and very few realize how unique and indispensible it is to the success of our nation.

I always here Republicans complaining about Wal-mart.
What will you do when Wal-mart controls 1/3 the food distribution in America and can control market prices.

They'd have you believe that it's 'cause they care about the little guy - be it a small businessman or a person of limited financial means.

They are, as usual, totally confused as what they're really after is some pie-in-the-sky ideal that is NEVER going to come to pass. At least it keeps 'em busy and off the streets.

Liberals look down on people who shop at Wal-mart, and consider them trash.
Liberals are elite (except the ones on welfare) and they shop at upper class businesses.
The Democrat Party has declared war on Wall-mart.
They want it unionized and charging higher prices.

Those who are against Wal-mart are generally small business owners. Wal-mart moves in...small businesses go under. That can devastate a small town.

I hate Wal-Mart...yes it's true. I hate how dirty the stores are sometimes and the fact that they are constantly sticking pallets in the way, so you can barely manuever your cart around.

But they have the lowest prices, which ultimately is bad for everyone, but that's another long winded diatribe.

Wal-Mart's prices come at a social cost to its employees and it's a shame.
