Im taking care of my friends house for the month and his tomatos are looking droopy and dry am I doing something wrong.

1. make sure the ground is moist, it should crumble in your hand in clumps and have a earthy smell, not wet like porridge or dry and dusty.

2. when you say dry and droppy, do the the leaves have a brown edging? if so then they may be diseased so trim those leaves off and discard if there are only a few.

3. tomato plants do need lots of direct sunlight and deep watering at least 1-2 times a week at the roots, don't get their leaves or fruit wet or they may get diseased too.

4. if you are north of New York and east of Chicago then the plants will be dying soon anyway. in a month when your friend gets back they'll be dead no matter what you do cause of winter.

You might be watering too much. Also you have to use fertilizer # 16. You don't have to use too much! Make sure the sun hits them all day!!
