I had a friend suggest I use Limewire to download my music. I went to it and noticed it said do not use for intentional copyright or something? Anyways, I wanted to download some movies, but soon realized, um...........is this ok???
(Just don't want to go to jail anytime soon for something as stupid as illegal download)

Yes, using Limewire or any other P2P file sharing program such as Kaaza or Bearshare, to download any copyrighted music, movies, software etc. in illegal in the USA.
It is rare, but people do get sued and fined for using these P2P programs. Such as this girl here:

It is ok to use limewire. It is ok to download copyrighted material.
However it is only alright to download copyrighted material if you have already purchased it. So if you are downloading for back-up reasons, or if you don't know how to rip songs off of your CDs, then you are fine.
If you are downloading music that you have not paid for however - that is illegal, and not supported by Limewire. Also be aware that many other companies make Limewire free by loading their software into the program, which may cause your computer to run less efficiently then it is right now. Other people may call it mal-ware, or spyware. You decided to download it though.

If you are downloading a copyrighted movie on limewire, yes, that is illegal.
If it's something like someone's home movies, that's fine, because it's not copyrighted.

but...
downloading copyrighted stuff (movies, songs, etc) is illegal
