Okay, i had a heart surgery about a year ago, and i have a cut that is 5 inches in my chest, i was just wondering if there is any way to make this scar go away.

Sometimes it turns red, i just wanted a good creme that will make it soft and not be seen, because when i wear shirts with a V neck, everyone seems to stare at it, i have tried putting makeup to hide it, but sometimes it don't work.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I've just recently had several surgeries, one surgery was an upper & lower eyelift. One one of my eyes is more scared than the other. My plastic surgeon advised me to massage it several times a day with Elta-Lite lotion or creme. You can either get it from a plastic surgeon or a drug store in a hospital. They don't have it in regular drug stores. I also use Palmer's scar serum & massage it with cocoa butter. I've tried Mederma on my eyes but it flakes up when I use make-up but if you use it on your body it may not flake. Good luck.

My brother has a scar like that but it's longer. I have a long scar on my thigh from 10 years ago and I had it tattooed over in January. :) I'm very happy with the results, and I can still see some of the scar but it doesn't bother me. The tattoo is a vine with blue flowers on it. You can talk to a cosmetic surgeon about your options. I believe I looked on the internet one time for mine and I was quoted 4,000 dollars to have the scar reduced. I decided to spend 120 and get a tattoo to cover it. You could try cocoa butter or mederma. Sometimes surgery can make a scar worse. If you decide to get a tattoo to cover it, wait three years, so the scar has plenty of time to settle down. My scar use to bother me so much I would cry, when I looked at it. Now I smile, not only because I liked the tattoo, but because I changed how I felt about myself.Whatever your choice, good luck!

i had a new valve installed six months ago. A nurse friend of mine said to use preparation H on the scar, which I do from time to time. I have to say that when I remember to put it on, usually at night, that a few days later I seem to notice it has become a bit more smooth. It's hard to tell if the preparation H is doing it or if it's natural, but I just seem to notice it has changed somewhat after applying the preparation H. My friend says the shark liver oil in the prep H is what shrinks the scar.

maybe cocoa butter lotion would work. They always rave about how cocoa butter is good for stretch marks and scars, try it on this scar. It may take awhile though. They also sell over the counter scar-reducing cream. Just look around at your local drugstore, I'm sure you'll find something of the sort that would work. Good luck.

Nope. It is there to stay. Let people stare at it. You are alive aren't you? The alternative isn't very promising.
