what is mentos, and does it explode in diet coke?

Mentos are a candy that comes in mint and fruit flavor. I tried the fruit flavor in Diet Coke and it caused the Diet Coke to shoot straight up (Almost 1 story high) until the carbonation was depleted. I wouldn't call it an explosion though.
Diet Coke must have a certain chemical makeup that causes this to happen. I guess no one is certain why.

Mentos is a kind of candy and YES it really does explode in diet coke! It was pretty awesome. my science class did it at the end of school last year! it isn't necessary to use Diet Coke, any artificially sweetened carbonated soda should work well. however, i doesn't recommend chugging diet soda and then popping Mentos!

i dont know y diet coke yes it does explode. mintos are like mints that taste good

The freshmint, Chewy mint flavored candy with sort of a hard shell.
