I recall when people used to buy LPs, they said that some records had on them hidden messages if you played them in reverse. (scary if true). I just heard rumours.

But was it true back then? In the CD / MP3 age is it still true or possible?

its true-and theres a lot of examples i can point you to-last track of prince's purple rain"hello hello, how are you,im fine for i know the the lord is coming some day some day soooooooon"another one bites the dust by queen"its fun to smoke marajuana"dont pass me by by the beatles"pauls dead pauls dead, missing missing missing"the best way to do this is to have a 4 track casette recorder because not only can you record anything onto casette on it-you can just flip the tape over and everything on side a will play backwards when youve flipped it-and best of all you can isolate each speaker so you can really pick up those satanic suggestions!!i still have my old 4 track and although i do my recording on the computer these days its still a useful tool to have if i ever feel the need to go down the dark path!its true about the judas priest thing-the song was called better by you better by me i think-the court case was a real spinal tap moment cos the band didnt really know what was going on-it also happened with ozzy osbournes suicide solution-but that was back in the days that ozzy was blamed for pretty much everything by the americans!!im sure that theres a player that will do it with cds and mp3-i think total recorder for the pc has that facility-although i think the trend for sticking weird stuff on your music may have died out nowadays-the weird stuff just gets put on the right way round!!!!

I think people were just hearing what they wanted to hear.

I'm sure they said that Beatles & Ozzy had these subliminal messages.

I think it was a load of cobblers & I can't see how you would be able to try this on a CD or MP3 as the record needs to be played backwards at different speeds.

Loads of people believe it to be true. You can play your MP3 tracks in reverse on Windows Sound Recorder, in Programs/accessories/entertainment. I think?

Most of them are rumour and are total rubbish. You can find the "backwards" lyrics to Stairway to Heaven and they're total garbage. Also, most of the Beatles "backward" lyrics such as Number Nine, the runout on Sgt Pepper and the "Paul is dead man, miss him" after "I'm so Tired" are just the results of overimaginative minds.

There are many songs that have backmasking on them..to be able to hear them you have to have a reel-to-reel or a harmon/carden record player and of course, the vinyl album. It is not possible;e to have backmasking on cd/mp3, due to the fact that you cannot physically manipulate the disc to run backwards.
I have heard the backmasking on stairway to heaven and several of Black Sabbaths songs. I guess I'm showing my age now, huh? lol

the biggest controversy is the playing back of Stairway to Heaven by Led Zepplin. many records had these types of back play kind of messages but most of them were considered pure accident. Stairway to Heaven was commonly asserted that this song was done on purpose however I don't know of any types sources that list that as true.

Not a rumor. The white album by the beatles was a great album to play backwards. Revolution number nine forward says number nine...number nine...number nine. Reverse it says ...turn me on dead man...turn me on dead man. It's pretty creepy. Can't do it with a CD or MP3 .

On Iron Maidens "Piece of Mind" when you play it back the drummer Nicko Mcbrain does an impression of Idi Amin!

there was a big court case in america years ago..two wierdos claimed that when they played a judas priest(i think) album backwards , it told them to do a murder.. if my memory serves me right, the parents of the wierdos then tried to sue judas priest for making their poor innocent wierdos, sorry, sons , into bloodthirsty killers....strange but true..
