Doing the best you can, while you can, whenever you can, wherever you can.
Reaching out in love to family members, friends and others is the code I try to go by and helps me not to dwell on my own challenges in life as appreciate there are always others worse off. When you help them it is wonderful.

In relationship to others,I would say this....do unto others as THEY WANT done unto themselves.
As for myself.....I try to set goals and standards for myself that are honorable. I usually am too hard on myself. In my efforts to correct that, I need to make sure I am not TOO easy on myself. I'll find the right balance.
