what grit sandpaper do i use to sand trim and a shelf built into my wall?

if it is a soft grain wood use a fine grit but be easy ...if a hard wood use a medium grit followed by a fine grit
a soft wood can be marked by your fingernail and a hard wood cannot

300 plus. the bigger the number the smaller the grit.

Depends how rough the wood is! If it's not rough, you can use a fine sandpaper!!

Use the finest, say, 150-A from Norton.
