Yes, I have used baking soda numerous times in my loads of laundry. I've used vinegar and peroxide as well. The baking soda is a natural substance that works like a mild abrasive. It cleans very well. I would recommend you trying it. I have also used it to brush my teeth. It helped my teeth and gums clean so well and grow more healthy that I had to stop using it as per my dentist, because it was making my gums so tight and firm and OVER healthy, that they were beginning to trap food particles underneath them. Crazy huh? It is good for you though. I was told to use it about 2 to 4 times per week instead of every time I brushed. Vinegar is an awesome way to disinfect your laundry loads. Just put about 1/2 to 1 cup of vinegar in a large load of laundry, at the same time you would put in your detergent. I think that it really freshened up my older drab clothes. Lastly, hydrogen peroxide is another natural cleanser that I have used frequently. It works killer to remove blood from clothing as well. Be careful, it could actually 'bleach' some items out, so spot test first or use only with your white loads. Which is how I've used it. It's natural, cheap and it works! Good luck!

Try the "free and clear" liquid laundry detergent. Plus use wayyy less than the recommended amount (I use about 1/3). And I also re-rinse some of my cloths that tend to hold the soap.

I just put my white cloths in the washer and I put baking soda in the wash, my mom always did that and now I do it too, It gets my whites whiter and my colors stay darker.

I add it to my detergent sometimes especially to towels if I think they might have a little bit of a must odor to them.
