Bahrain is a Muslim country so I would cover everything. Jeans and long sleeved, light weight shirts are best. The clothes there are amazing so you can pick up anything you will need. You will not be required to wear an abaya( the long black robe that many women wear) but you might want to have a scarf to cover your hair in some of the more conservative areas. ( Like residential streets not tourist areas.) It is a nice place to visit though and I know that you will enjoy your stay.

Light weight clothing is suitable for May-October. Medium weight clothing is suitable for November - April. Sunglasses are necessary Bahrain is very modern in its approach to everyday life. While no formal dress code is imposed, for the sake of courtesy and common sense, visitors should dress sensibly when in town. This means, shorts are not normally acceptable for either sex, and women should not ware short, low-cut, backless or sleeveless dresses which may give offence to some members of the local community.

Dress Code
Bahrain is a mixed society in which some are westernised in approach and
others conservative. Many Bahraini are comfortable only when totally covered in
public, but equally, both men and women may be seen in fashionable western
clothes. Common sense and courtesy demand that visitors dress sensibly when
in town. This means that shorts are unacceptable for either sex. Women should
avoid close-fitting exercise wear, short or low-cut or backless dresses may give
offence. Newcomers are advised to play safe until they are sufficiently confident
to make their own decision on what to wear. For business appointments men
should wear a suit and tie, women a dress or suit.

I think long skirts are excellent, you're covered up without the restrictions of pants.

Baharin is fairly relaxed towards westerners. Even so, cover your legs (no shorts or short skirts, wear trousers or full length skirts) (by implication, cover your feet - wear shoes, no sandals), cover your arms (wear long sleeves), cover your chest (no low necklines). They don't expect you cover your head, face, or hands.

It depends where in Bahrain, if it's Dubai or Abu Dabi, then you can wear regular street clothes, just nothing too low cut or revealing. Short sleeves are fine and medium length skirts are fine as well.

Have you seen that costume in "I dream of Jeannie?" I think that's the preferred mode au day. Another outfit I like is the one that looks like a bikini adorned with coins and flashy looking things, a lot of dancers wear them.
