I believe earth was created so that everything could live in harmony . With the newtype corporate industrialzation of agriculture the balance of nature will soon be nonsxistent . We as farmers must realize , that nobody knows better then we do , what is strangling the life out of rural America .

If you like the price of food now , then wait till the Agricuture Corporations or factory farms drive the Family Farmers off the land . They will then control the price of foods . they already control most of the meat prices . Will our food be any safer .

I used to live in Iowa, where I found it very sad that families couldn't pass their farms onto their children, but this was for many reasons.
The main reason was corporations were trying to buy up the land for mega-farming. This is a crime in itself.
It raises food prices and pollutes the land because of the types of fertilizer they use.
I'm with you on the downfall of the American farmers. This is one issue I check out when voting. I'm totally against corporate greed in farming !

They already have.
Though a niche has opened up among gourmet foods.
For instance: California has taken over the Cheese market (mass produced) because of the corporations and all the new equipment.
So cheese makers in Wisconsin (those who survived) had to do so by changing the cheeses they make and their processes. Most of the cheesemakers in wisconsin now make Gourmet - Niche market cheeses and some of them make a tidy profit.
There is no middle ground in farming anymore though. The large farms are owned by corporations, the middle farms died out, and the small farms prosper by offering higher quality products to whole foods stores. etc.
It's a sad thing that in the past our government has paid farmers NOT to grow food.
Corporations kill creativeness, they wipe out the small businessman, and hurt our communities and those communities of the world that they do business with.
Walmart is the devil.

They are trying - they haven't succeeded yet. I am absolutely against their efforts because i believe that once they have monopolized the industry prices will rise or they will offshore it where labor is cheaper.
I'm in rural northeastern Louisiana and farmers here are learning "co-operative" methods to compete and keep costs down. I truly believe that we ought to legislate that no corporation / farm may consist of lands under the dominion of more than one state government - geographically limit their size.

Corporate greed is an obstruction to nature, its diversity, and its productiveness. It has caused environmental disasters and global warming. It's time for nature to fight back and reclaim her lands.
Either that or all farmers go on strike. No corn, beans, bread, or squash till people come to their senses and protect the earth.
Farmers should tax the corporations every time they open their mouths to do away with family farms.

Not all corporations set forth to destroy. Some pick up on consumers concience and act upon it (such as Waitrose in England) By having more organic and fair trade prodcuts around.

Quit wailing. The family farm is going the way of the local delicatessen and the local general store, and for the same reasons. It just isn't practical any more. You can't compete. America will survive without you. Sorry -- tough but true.
