Well firstly, if you got a first in law then many congratulations.
The merit of doing the LLM is that it could broaden your options if you choose not to practice law, there are many jobs that are law orientated.
Having the LLM as well as a first could also give you an edge when applying for a training contract or pupiledge. You have to remember that there is a conversion course from other non-legal degrees and those people may also have a first in their chosen subject.
Competition is always very vigorous for legal training so any advantage is worth it.
Good luck.

It depends on what you want to do next!
If, for example, you want to become a Lecturer in Law at a University it might be a good next step. However, if you want to qualify as a solicitor or barrister, it might be better to go to Law Collge or join Chambers and make a start on the professional exams.
In my limited experience, if you intend to practise then an additional degree is only a marginal advantage - when it comes to getting jobs in the future it is more your practical experience and achievements that count rather than pure academic success no matter how notable that may be!

Why not do an LL.M.? At least in the United States it is a one year program. I think the University of London has the same 1 year program. It will not hurt at all to be in school for one more year and might open many doors, so I'd say go for it.
