all that anti virus and firewall software may be causing conflicts. Go to start, then right-click on my computer and select manage. From there select system tools>event viewer>system error records. From there you should get an idea of what is going on.

Press f8 when rebooting to go into safe mode if your system isnt stable enough to complete the above task.

As a shortcut, I would just uninstall all antivirus and firewall software to see what happens. If you are behind a NAT router you are pretty safe already, just don't open any attachments.

Good luck!

You would need to have an expert look at your Registry to find out what process is causing it to shutdown.

Is there a message box that comes up before it shuts down.
I've seen cases where an improperly imaged HD will shutdown continuously, a message box appears informing you that an application needs to restart your system.

You can also check your Task Manager to see if there are any scheduled tasks that have been enabled. I had a classmate who created a script that he enabled in Task Manager and it kept shutting his system down every 5 minutes.

It sounds like you PC is overheating. It's either your CPU or Power supply.
If the power supply's fan is working than it's probably the CPU. 1.Check it's temperature with a program such as CPU-Z / Sandra / Dr hardware.
2. Check the "CPU critical temperature" in the BIOS (usually under Power management).
If no. 1 is higher than no. 2 you should change the fan.

Sounds like a RAM problem. I know you say you are protecting against overheating, but just overheating once can do damage. Most of us have had hotter than usual weather this summer. What about your area? If you have been having temperatures of 36C-40C+ this may have been the cause.

it probably needs re-placing. but you know what? i think computers have a life span. and that the manufacturers designed it so that we keep on buying new ones. the one i am using now is my 4th computer. the others still work but badly and limited to respond to comands.

If you've got your machine fully protected against viruses etc then its more then likely a faulty processor or RAM...
