Yes, that is supposed to happen. It burned everything in the oven to ashes. That is how it cleans. You are supposed to wipe that all out, and VIOLA you are done.

Self cleaning ovens do take a while to go through their cleaning cycle, and yes, white powder is normal. It is the ash that has been created by the burning off of any spilled food from the walls and bottom of the oven. You only need to wipe it out with a damp cloth once your oven is no longer hot. It sure beats scrubbing and that nasty oven cleaner you'd have to use other wise! ;)

Yes, the powder is whats left of the grease and dirt in your oven. The high heat breaks it down to the dust you find. You need to wipe the interior out after cleaning. And yes, 4 1/2 hours is about normal time. You can usually change the time to less if you think you don't need a full run. Check the maintenance & use book if it came with one. If not, you usually have a couple minutes to change the time on the clock when you start the job.

Yes mine does the same thing. Just wipe it up with a damp sponge. My oven takes forever to self clean as well. It is good to do every once in a while.
