Was your use of Jewdaism a play on words or simply a way to infuriate the kind people of the Jewish faith?

Surely, if you're studying Judaism you'd know its correct spelling. It would be a shame if I said I studied geetar playing for years and years, wouldn't it?

Sabbatai Zevi (Sabbadai Zwi is a German spelling) was the (in)famous 17th century false messiah who arose in the Ottoman Empire under the twin forces of Kabbalism (a form of Jewish mysticism that promotes direct knowledge of god through mediation techniques, heavily influenced in the 16th century by Protestant millennialism - the belief in the immanence of the Messiah; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kabbala) and the massive destruction of the Polish Jewish communities in the Cossack revolt of 1648-1654 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chmielnicki_Uprising) This destruction and the general air of millennialism ( belief in the end of the world) gave rise to a widespread expectation on the part of Eastern Jewish communities the the Messiah was about to come. Sabbatai Zevi declared himself the messiah in 1665. The widespread disturbances that followed worried the Ottoman Emperor. he had Sabbatai brought to Istanbul and gave him a choice of conversion to Islam or death. Sabbatai converted, the subsequent spiritual blow to the Jewish communities of Eastern Europe gave rise to a number of mystical movements that sought to give meaning to life's sufferings, including the early Hasidic movement of Poland.
