Start with the easy things first. Get a new spark plug. Clean the air filter. Get a new fuel filter if it has one. Also, drain the old gas and use FRESH, clean gas and a little STABIL to clean everything out. Most small engines fail to run because of dirty fuel.

It does sound like simple fuel starvation..... first make sure (take the fuel line off at the carb, let it go real quick and watch for a good fast steady flow) if thats good..... then onto the carb...... I'd just go ahead, take it off, apart, get a rebuild kit, soak it in carb cleaner and blow all holes out with compressed air and use the parts from the kit to rebuild it.

Start it up and keep pressing the primer until it stays running. When you drain the gas completely you get air pockets in the carb, fuel line....It takes a few minutes of running to get all the air out.

Did you check your air filter? They get clogged with grass and blocks the air to the carb. No air, No combustion.
