Will the PS3 price drop take effect in america or just japan?

Your asking about a price drop and the system hasn't even came out yet your craze.

look Sony made their console so high tech and expensive with all their stuff like the Blue-tooth, Blue-ray, and its 8 cell processing unit of which it only takes 3 of the cells to run the system. They did all of that so that they wouldn't have to come out with the PS4 for at least another 10 years so don't expect a price drop until 2 years minimum after the console launches.

Where a price drop occurs depends on how the system is selling for example the Xbox 360 isn't selling well in japan in fact so far the game cube has been out selling it. So Microsoft decided to reduce the price in Japan by 50 dollars and bundle it with a game so if the system don't sell well in America you should expect a price drop sooner than usual.

It will just be for Japan I'm afraid to say, and it's only the 20GB system that they are discounting and not the 60GB version. Many have said that this is a meaningless discount because most people are going to buy the 60 GB system anyways, and the biggest share for Sony will be here in North America, so it doesn't change anything here.

confirmed that there will be a big press event n the end of october for ps3. I am guessing that maybe there will be a price drop only because they want to generate buzz 2 weeks before launch.

probably not for about a year after relasase its a very uhmmm . . . "new" "high tech" "exeprimental" system so it wont drop in price untill something that uses the same tech comes out n even then it wont be less than 400 minimum untill ps4 comes out

for now sony only said a pricedrop in japan but i think they will do pricedrop in america because they have another conference in octorber
