Well, hun my advice to you would be to speak with your mother. She can help you when choosing the right ones for you,she can also help you with many things involving this particular topic.Remember, even if it seems as if she doesnt, she understands. She is a woman and understands every aspect of a woman's life.Never be embarassed or ashamed to speak with your mother about any questions you may have about anything from your period to boys, she can answer them if anyone can. Now,having said that i will give you some further advice. When choosing them, even if your mother goes with you,you yourself know your flow, get the size right for you. However, since it is your first time using them i would suggest a smaller tampon or one for a lighter flow.Never be afraid, nervous,or scared. Many women use tampons and they can come in handy for swimming and things of that nature. There will be a little booklet in the box it will give you instructions on how to properly insert them and which place you need them to go.They also have diagrams on there also to show this information. If all else fails, your mother can help you with that also. You need to make sure you change them often. Also, when inserted properly, you should not feel any discomfort whatsoever. You should not even feel you are wearing one.It may take a couple of tries, but dont give up and keep trying because once you get it in place, each time will get easier and it will be worth it especially in gym class when you have to swim and things like that. So,Just remember your mother is there for you when you may need her for things like this.Good luck!

tampons are a personal choice some people just dont like them, but you never know till you try right. Well if i were u I'd give it a try before your swim meet, of course during ur swim meet theyll be safe and not leak. I recomend a tampon like tampax plastic applicator, the make a special brand for for gurls your age, make sure u take ur time, follow the directions, and change them often, never leave a tampon in for more then four hours, and use the recomended size for ur flow, ie super, regular, and light. using a super on a light day is not only dangerous (due to TSS) but really uncomfortable. Try it once or twice it gets easier the more you use them and practice at it. Good luck!

There are tampons designed for teenagers to use they are much thinner than a standard tampon.. Get the type with a plastic applicator and get some ky gel (it comes in small travel size) place a small amount on the outside of the applicator to make insertion more smooth..

Only use while swimming and you should have no problems at all...

If you have alot of concerns speak with your schools nurse he/she will be able to give you alot of advise one specific questions... Don't be embarrassed they are trained to answer these types of questions and will be glad to assist you...

i couldn't use tampons until after i had sex the first time i got one stuck in me and ended up going to the hospital after that i didn't use them but that was before the slim fit tampons came out i gave them to a couple friends who couldn't use tampons and they worked good sometimes tampons can be hard to get up there just stand up put one leg on the toliet and it should open up and make it much easier but most everyone i knew had an easy time i hope you do too the other thing you could do is try and strech yourself with your finger a bit first it'll also help you learn what angle they go in at don't worry its not a big deal and if you r embarressed do it after you get in bed at night b4 u go to bed

If you want to do this you need to talk to your mom about how to put them in. I would start them on a day that you don't have school to make sure your body can tolerate them. I could never use them because within 10 minutes I had the most hellacious cramps ever. I couldn't even stand up. My doctor said some women just aren't built right for them.

I can understand your fear. I did not find it easy when I first tried using a tampon. I know it may sound weird, but you need to practice inserting them so they're in the right spot and comfortable. Can you talk to your mum about this? Otherwise, get a packet of the smallest tampons, and, if you're finding it difficult to insert, use a little lubricant (like k y gel). Don't forget to change them regularly, and once you get the hang of it you won't know yourself.

Tampons are a must if you are going to be swimming during your period. It is kind of scary the first time but after a while you get the hang of it :)

Almost every girl has gone thru what you are. It is natural to be a little scared. Like the other post said, read the directions and relax. It is pretty hard to hurt that part of the body.

they won't hurt you, and there is a new style out now especially for young girls, very narrow so as to cause less discomfort. Its the only kind I wore for a long time. And yes you will have to chage them every time you use the bathroom. So always carry extras with you.

They are not painful- so dont' worry. You can try the really thin ones until you get used to them. Talk to your Mom or other female relative too.
You'll want to read the directions on inserting them. If you do it correctly, it shouldn't be painful.
