I notice that in big cities, black guys (not to sound racist, but it's the only typ I see) wearing headphones rapping out loud to themselves. Not even quiet like, like they want people to hear them rapping, but usually walk on by? Why do they do this?

I never said anything was wrong with it, I just never see white people outside walking down the street singing Huey Lewis and Bruce Springsteen hecka loud. Just an observation.

I don't buy the whole "hip hop is a culture" thing. Hip hop is uncreative beats and a guy (or gal) rhyming to it. How cultural. THis isn't a cut on blacks, cause I think great culture and talent comes from many other sources, jazz, soul, gospel, and many more. But for some reason I don't think "I just killed a cop" qualifies as a rooted culture. Sounds to me like the perpetuation of violence through song.

I guess it's the same reason everyone else sings out loud to themselves when they are wearing head phones and getting into the music. What's wrong with people just enjoying the music, lyrics, and feeling good about it.

I've seen all kinds of people wearing headphones and singing, humming, tapping their sides or walking to the beat. What's the problem? Everyone should enjoy themselves as long as they aren't hurting or disturbing other people.

I think they just get into the music. I would love to be able to sing out loud but I have an awful voice so I regulate my singing to the shower.

I don't listen to today's rap music but I do tend to find myself singing while I'm walking along. Didn't you know, black people are a musical people.

Cause they are not ashamed of being themselves. And they are so into it that they want to sing. Like they are the ones rapping. At least they aren't being rude about it and doing it outside. I do hate when people do that in lines though.

blacks are blacks and that is what they will be: what you see on the news.
negroids keep saying we are all human beings and individuals but then try to justify themselves against "stereotypes" by saying it's a "black thang" and we will never understand them. of course it's a black thang that's how you people are. LOL

You have to understand that hip hop is a culture. Literally. Not just listening to music. If you were a hip hop fan, you would understand it is a world of it's own where music is the influence. When you hear someone rapping to themselves, just aknowledge he is enjoying the music in his own world, universe, heaven, or whatever you define it. If you ever went to NYC it would bugg you out on how the hip hop culture is. I live about 50 miles north and music of hip hop runs in our vains. It is one of the only things left on this planet that can give people peace. and it is not just males with rap. It can be a female who LOVES r&b because it may be the only thing that can relate to her. But since she is a female, she won't sing openly. Though some do and I for one love it when I see a female grooving and growing with the music. I am of the hip hop culture and music runs in our vains. When people say they just won't understand, after reading this question, they really don't. but NY is a pure hip hop culture. Even the morning shows like Good Morning America have hip hop running in thier blood. But they are more from the beggining of it with 80s music. But we live on music.

I have never heard this. I sing along whenever I'm listening to my mp3 player. I think most people do that.
