Did someone say Green Day was better than the Beatles? Or were they just listing bands they happened to like. I know musical preference is largely subjective, but Green Day vs. The Beatles can just about be resolved scientifically.

If you think about it...the Beatles were really only a band that was together in the public eye for 6 years (1964-1970 - I know they were together before that, but I'll talk Ed Sullivan on...). Even though it was only 6 years, they are still considered the biggest band of all-time.
Are they my favorite band? No, but I respect them as well as each of the members individually.
My favorite bands are: Tears For Fears and Inxs. I wouldn't try to compare them to the Beatles.

Well, as far as I'm concerned, no. But I know already that a lot of people will say the Pink Floyd or Led Zepplin are the greatest bands (I love both - but the Beatles rule!!). And for the record, Pink Floyd once said in an interview that they were inspired as a band by the Beatles and owed them a lot.
Please remember to put the music in a time line. The Beatles broke a lot of ground.

the answer is no. nobody can top the beatles.people who hate the beatles just hate them because theyre the beatles and really dont know anything about them and those songs they hate are just the old ones played out on the radio. no there has never and never will be a better band than the beatles.

No, no there hasn't. The Beatles were innovative, they weren't afraid to try new things. Their music evolved like no other and they did it without compromising their musical abilities or beliefs.

I never liked the beatles, or Evlis. Though I appreciate what they did to bring on the music that I do like. (60's stuff. hehe.)
