That is a very good question and I am going to have to disagree with the first answer because doctors can usually tell if you have had any surgery on your female organs because of the scar tissue.

Usually- no. All is back to normal within less than 6 weeks. If you see him/her after less than 6 weeks, then they should be able to tell, if you were further along when you aborted.
If the procedure is done properly, all looks the same after 6 weeks. If it left scarring, then yes. However, it is in your own interest to share that information (it is NOT on your public records and it's up to you to disclose it).
You do not need to be ashamed, and if you share that information, the doctor might be explain scarring or changes, if you have any problems, and the info will help him decide how to treat any problems. It may also help him decide which birth control methods may work and may not work for you (as you're less likely to use a method that has already failed, and you might be a good candidate for an IUD)
If you think your Gyn will condemn your past, find another doctor. They cannot disclose the information to anybody, but you still need to feel comfortable to tell them anything.

My sister-in-law got one about 4 yrs ago and yes different doctors to this day can still tell cuz there's scaring inside her that she can't see but the doctors can see. It's not on any of her records cuz she didn't goto her regular doctors office but they all still knew by the scar tissue inside her and the fact they could tell that she was previously pregnant. But if your thinking about having one or know someone else that is please think long and hard about it cuz it may be the answer for you now but my sister-in-law can't have any kids now due to scar tissue and they never know how one is gonna heal and if it'll effect your future pregnancies. Think if abortion is better than adoption.

I would think that they would be able to tell. Just like having a surgery on your arm...you see the scar, but it's visible to the outside. You have scar tissue that forms, no matter what surgery it is that you have, so I would believe that the doctor would be able to tell. However, I don't think he'd go on asking you about it if you didn't tell him. He'd just make notes in your chart. It is important to tell your doctor everything about your health though, and if you have a good doctor, they won't judge you, and they can't tell anyone about your records.

No matter type of procedures you choose to or have to have within your life, are the business of only you and and your doctors... whatever type of medicine they practice. Should you be considering to have one or maybe you already have had one, it is in your best interest to let your doctor know (even if they do not take part in the actual procedure) as you could have complications somewhere down the line. Also keep in mind, that HIPPA protcts your medical records and no one will ever see them... aas it is against the law!

It is important that your ob/gyn know about it, especially if this is your first pregnancy. Not telling your OB could have fatal consequences for any future babies if your blood type is Rh negative.

Why should you care if your doctor could tell? If your that ashamed, don't get an abortion. Its murder!! There are soo many people that would love to adopt.

I think it's important that you do tell them. They're there to take care of you and keep you healthy. I'm sure that they would suspect. You'll have scars, internally.
