If you average it out over the whole life of the average horse, it's ABOUT 1 horse year to 4 human, but ponies generally live longer in any case.

Obviously once they get over 25, the ratio isn't quite the same. My Fell Pony died recently aged 30 and she was as sprightly as could be at the equivalent if the ratio is true of 120! (sudden onset of illness and she was gone)

I have known another pony that was 45, and the local rescue has a 42-year-old that gallops around his paddock like a 2-y-o, but has a dodgy heart, so the 1:4 thing doesn't always hold true.

Keep your horse fit, regular gentle exercise and he should last for years barring accidents and Cushings. Good luck :0)

Honestly, I have never tried to calculate horse years.
A 15 year old horse that has been well taken care of, I'd guess somwher between 55 and 65. Probably starting to get arthritis, but should have 5 good years left in him, 10 or maybye even 15 if he is managed right and has genetics in his favor.

Your horse would be 33 in human years. It is calculated at right over 2 years of human ages.

We had a horse that was 26 years old and one that was 32! So, they can't be 4/1 with humans or they would be in their hundreds!!!

Around 30-60 it depends what you think one person i know says 1year = 2 human years and other say 1 year = 4 human years.

but i believe its 30-40 because that would make allot of sense.

i think you will get lots of different answers to this one as everyone has a different opinion.

The way i look at it is that the average healthy horse lives to 25-30, so fifteen is about middle age. middle age in humans is around 30 - 40. So there is your answer, or one of them at least.
